El Salvador: A Short Chapter That Brought Me Back to Life

Days 45 to 50 – El Salvador 🇸🇻

This short chapter brought something back to life in me.

I felt alive here. Reignited. Awake. Adventure found me again—exploring new streets, hiking volcanoes, zipping through towns on a rented moped ($15 for the whole day), and giving love to every stray dog that crossed my path.

I poured my heart into every moment. I connected again. Open-hearted. Unfiltered. Free.

El Salvador is often overlooked. Once labeled the murder capital of the world, it’s now shockingly safe—thanks to bold (and controversial) reforms. I walked alone through Santa Ana and nearby towns late at night with zero fear. Just curiosity and peace.

This was the most affordable leg of my Latin America journey:

  • Hostels as low as $10/night
  • My record low meal: $2
  • A luxury bus from Guatemala City to Santa Ana (Pullmantur) for $34—double-decker, movies, and a meal onboard

I did the Santa Ana volcano trek and found a hidden gem I’ll be sharing in a reel soon.

The biggest challenge? Lack of AC in the main cities. It gets hot, and fans only go so far—so plan accordingly.

As for local food: Pupusas. Everywhere. Warm, filling, and beloved by all.

This chapter may have been short—but it was expansive. Not just a new country explored, but a return to me.
