Montezuma, Costa Rica Babyyyyyyyy

This Small Beach Town in Costa Rica Changed Everything

I didn’t plan on staying this long. But when your nervous system finally exhales for the first time in weeks—maybe months—you don’t rush the moment. You extend your stay, twice. You cancel your next destination. You sit still, because for once… it feels good to.

This little jungle beach town gave me exactly what I didn’t know I needed: a reset, a recharge, and a reminder of how beautiful life can feel when you’re actually in it.

With the help of an incredible coach, this became a true inflection point. My joy—real joy—started flowing again. Not the fake hustle kind. Not the chase. Just the kind that sneaks up on you in a hammock after your morning swim and reminds you you’re alive.

The Perfect Balance: People + Peace

This town had the kind of energy that’s rare. It held space for solitude and simultaneously offered one of the warmest, most open communities I’ve found on the road.

Everyone knew each other. Within days, I was being greeted on the street like I’d lived there for years. I made friends I’ll have for life—no exaggeration. This was the hardest place I’ve had to leave on this trip. So I didn’t. I extended. Twice.

Jungle, Beach, and a Bunch of Mischief Monkeys

Monkeys were everywhere—swinging through the trees, causing trouble, trying to jack people’s bags like little jungle bandits. Wild to watch. Less fun when they’re unzipping your backpack.

The beach itself? Unreal. Vast, soft, and almost always empty. I watched sunrise after sunrise in total silence, just me and the waves. Some mornings I’d run, other mornings I’d just sit. Both felt like church.

The Real Travel Details (Because I Know You’re Wondering)

  • Hostel: $27/night, included a solid breakfast and a beautiful pool. Legit one of the best I’ve stayed in.

  • Food: Honestly… meh. Most meals ran $10–$15, and while it filled the tank, don’t come here for gourmet dining.

  • Vibe: Slow. Local. Humble. People actually look you in the eye here. I love that.

Final Thoughts: A New Favorite

Every day here felt like a dream—raw, simple, and unfiltered. Out of all the places I’ve hit in Costa Rica so far, this one has my heart.

Not because it was the flashiest. But because it was real. And real is hard to leave.
